In the News

Located in one of Utah’s largest school districts, Mountain Ridge High School needed to accommodate the demands of a growing student population—as well as requirements from the district and the building site itself. The first challenge began with an opportunity. The district employs a standard prototype for all its high school buildings; shared floorplans and architecture help control costs and improve efficiencies. However, the site for this school has a steep slope not accounted for in original plans. Reaveley worked closely with the architects to make simple modifications that resulted in dramatic improvements. Today, Mountain Ridge students enjoy a campus that makes the most of its setting and the student experience. The open cafeteria connects with a stunning commons area. The recreation area boasts a second-level running track that encircles arena-style seating. The new high school features top technology capabilities as well as unique maker spaces in the Career and Technical Education area. Even the building exterior visually reflects the community identity, becoming a prototype solution that melds practicality with pride.
