The Spencer Fox School of Medicine at the University of Utah aims to improve medical education and encourage innovation. The building includes a gross anatomy lab for 150 students, a body donor program with storage for cadavers, and advanced simulation areas.
The simulation areas will help with training using mannequins, task trainers, virtual reality, 3D printing, and gaming technology. The building will also have modern classrooms for problem-based learning, flexible office spaces for mobile workers, and various areas to support students. Added features include food services, a welcoming lobby and exhibition space, conference rooms, and outdoor gathering areas.
The project team is planning for a simulation and lab spaces, advanced audiovisual systems, safety measures for earthquakes, sound engineering, and security systems. The building aims for LEED Silver certification for sustainability.
