Salt Lake Community College Technical Arts Building Retrofit & Remodel
SIRQ Constrcution
After a fire, forensic and structural assessments determined that full replacement was the most responsible solution, leading to the design and construction of the Salt Lake Community College Technical Arts Building Retrofit & Remodel—a 46,000-square-foot technical education facility.
GSBS Architects led the design, creating a flexible, light-filled building that supports programs such as welding, HVAC, dance, and film, while accommodating specialized performance needs and long-term adaptability. SIRQ Construction executed the project with meticulous coordination and precision, ensuring durable, high-quality results.
Reaveley Engineers delivered structural solutions, designing a tilt-up concrete and steel framing system chosen for its durability, long-span capability, and energy efficiency. This system supports heavy equipment and specialized labs while allowing for open interiors and future adaptability.
Through thorough post-fire analysis and close collaboration among architect, contractor, and owner, the team navigated uncertainty with clarity and confidence, delivering a resilient facility that offers peace of mind today and lasting value for Salt Lake Community College.
