Salt Lake City Mosquito Abatement District Phase II Laboratory, Helipad and Ancillary Buildings
MHTN Architects
Phase 2 of the Salt Lake City Mosquito Abatement District campus expands the district's capacity to monitor and respond to mosquito-borne disease threats. The project includes a new 25,000+ SF laboratory building, helipad, hangar, and support structures. The lab will feature advanced diagnostic tools, including PCR capabilities, and meet Biosafety Level 2 standards with flexibility for future BSL-3 upgrades.
The helipad and hangar will support aerial surveillance and larvicide missions, enhancing regional response capabilities. Site improvements include upgraded utilities, secure access roads, and sustainable landscaping. Designed to address the growing public health impacts of climate change and urban expansion, the facility will centralize operations and improve year-round surveillance and outbreak response.
