In the News

The Geraldine E. King Women’s Resource Center in Salt Lake City is a vital refuge for women experiencing homelessness, offering emergency shelter and essential services to up to 200 individuals nightly. Reaveley Engineers played a key role in bringing this transformative space to life, providing structural engineering expertise that supports both safety and compassion.

The 65,000-square-foot facility integrates trauma-informed principles with robust infrastructure. The structure features flexible layouts for clinics, counseling rooms, temporary living spaces, and administrative offices—ensuring the building can meet diverse needs while remaining adaptable for future use. The center’s design emphasizes natural light, open spaces, and calming materials to foster healing and empowerment.

Awarded the 2019 Utah Construction and Design “Most Outstanding Public Project Under $10M” and an AIA Design Honor Award, the center is a model of thoughtful collaboration and technical excellence, helping create a safe foundation for women to rebuild and thrive.
