Pamela Atkinson Homeless Resource Center
Holst Architecture
The Pamela Atkinson Homeless Resource Center is the largest of three purpose-built shelters in Salt Lake County, designed to serve up to 300 men experiencing homelessness. Reaveley Engineers provided structural engineering services for this 77,000 SF facility, helping transform a compact urban site into a safe, functional, and welcoming space.
Working alongside ajc Architects, Holst Architecture, and Meridian Engineering, our team developed a structural solution that supports the center’s innovative indoor-outdoor courtyard concept. This design integrates community gardens and open-air gathering spaces, promoting wellness and dignity for residents. The center includes secure gated access, a clinic, counseling rooms, temporary living quarters, and communal amenities such as a computer lab, laundry facilities, and dining areas. The structure's design accommodates these diverse functions while remaining adaptable for future needs.
The center reflects Reaveley's commitment to community-centered design and technical excellence. By supporting the visioning principles of the client and design team, we are proud of our efforts to create a space where limited resources are maximized to directly benefit individuals and families in crisis.
