In the News

This branch of the Salt Lake City Library system serves as a neighborhood anchor and civic center. The first floor contains staff and building support areas, a children’s collection, teen/young adult spaces, and the Moka Cafe. A creative lab offers patrons access to the latest technologies like 3D printing.  The second floor of the Marmalade branch hosts the library’s general fiction and non-fiction collections as well as a large, multi-purpose community space. Conference and study rooms are incorporated at this level along with a wrap-around terrace for outdoor seating and reading.

The low-maintenance building materials used in this structure relate in color, texture, and materials to the charm and history of the surrounding Marmalade neighborhood. Exterior cladding includes zinc panels, ultra-high performance concrete cladding, weathered steel panels, and a terra cotta baguette sunscreen system. Certified LEED Silver, the library includes green elements like a compact footprint to reduce land use and a high-performance building envelope.
