Brigham Young University West View Faculty Office Building
The West View Building at Brigham Young University, completed in 2020, replaced the aging Faculty Office Building on West Campus Drive, just west of the Joseph F. Smith Building. Initially constructed in 1955 as two separate structures serving the university's old football stadium, the previous building was demolished in 2019 to make way for a modern, purpose-built academic facility.
The design of the new 50,500 SF, two-story structure accommodates the Department of Economics, the Department of Statistics, and the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship. The building includes a spacious computer lab, faculty and research assistants' offices, and modernized infrastructure such as fully functioning HVAC systems, an upgrade from the previous facility. The structural system consists of concrete and steel, providing durability and flexibility for academic use. HKS Architects completed the project in two phases over 12 months.
