One year after the school was opened, the high school burned to the ground. Double sessions were held at the school and the building was subjected to a lot of hard use during its initial years.

With funds from a bond, the school underwent a major renovation including the reconstruction of the cafeteria, locker facilities and family and consumer sciences and TLC/shop facilities. The addition of seven new classrooms and new office space reflect the commitment of administration and staff to support student achievement and success.
