The 2008 renovation and expansion of the Park City Museum unified three historic structures, Old City Hall, the Fire Whistle Tower, and the Old Library, into a modern museum complex in the heart of Park City's Main Street Historic District. Mark Cavagnero Associates designed the project to expand the museum's footprint from 8,300 to 12,900 SF, enhancing accessibility and exhibit capacity while preserving key architectural elements. A contemporary addition along Swede Alley, clad in local sandstone, features a steel-framed display window and a central circulation spine with catwalks connecting open galleries.
Reaveley provided structural engineering services to support integrating modern systems within the historic framework, including preserving the Territorial Jail and exposed stone walls. The museum reopened in 2009 and received the Utah Heritage Award for excellence in historic preservation.
