The Ezra Taft Benson Science Building at Brigham Young University is a vital hub for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, covering about 190,000 SF. It features a diverse range of specialized laboratories, including nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, and X-ray diffraction labs, along with facilities for flow cytometry, DNA synthesis, and computational chemistry linked to supercomputing resources.
The building also has a prototype manufacturing lab for machining, welding, 3D printing, and electronics, facilitating custom lab equipment creation. The building offers undergraduate and graduate teaching laboratories, classrooms, seminar rooms, and offices, fostering a collaborative academic environment. Notably, it includes a space for religious services that can accommodate an entire LDS stake for Sunday meetings, reflecting BYU's mission to integrate academic excellence with spiritual purpose, making the Ezra Taft Benson Science Building essential to both scientific advancement and campus life.
