Designed to take education beyond of the traditional classroom setting, the Scholars Community at the University of Utah integrates academic and residential life. Student apartments, classrooms, faculty offices, and a library are all in one place.

The community features 67 four- and eight-bed apartments. The Big Ideas Innovation Center is an open classroom planned for many uses. With wireless computer access and built-in projection equipment, the room can be used for meetings, demonstrations, and evening movies. The Hetzel Commons is an open community area adjacent to a 24-hour market and fireplace lounge.

The three-winged structure features exterior space on the west including a patio for games and socializing, as well as a stepped lecture/performance venue.
