The Leonardo

The city's largest library for nearly 40 years, this science and technology center is considered a historically significant example of mid-century modern architectural design. Built in 1964 the remodel of the three-story structure included asbestos abatement and a complete seismic retrofit.

The use of load-bearing CMU walls with various integral colors and finishes resulted in a structure that is both aesthetically pleasing and economical. This approach allowed the structure to serve as the finished exterior facade which resulted in a substantial savings over other systems.

Certified LEED Gold, the building's sustainable design includes a rooftop solar array to provide an ongoing source of renewable energy.
