Located adjacent to South Jordan City Hall—and a part of the city’s centralization plan—this branch of the Salt Lake County Library system nearly doubled the size of the previous library that had been located several blocks away. The single-story structure features a large interior space that complements the city buildings while maintaining a scale relating to adjacent residential neighborhoods.
Interior areas were designed as spaces within a space by including features unique to each collection. Patrons enjoy a tall display area naturally lit with clerestory windows, a variety of ceiling heights and slopes, lower windows framed with exterior pergolas and hanging wisteria, and a curved window wall facing the city’s reflection pond. The reading room includes a fireplace and scenic views of the mountains to the east.
The building received a LEED Certified rating – the first for a Salt Lake County project.
