RETAIL & MIXED USE

O.C. Tanner Flagship Retail Store Seismic Upgrade

Built in 1905, this historic Salt Lake City gem served as the city library for decades. The building was later turned into a planetarium, and the transformation caused many architectural features to be lost. When the planetarium exhibits moved elsewhere, the building sat vacant until fine jeweler O.C. Tanner purchased it to use as their flagship retail store.

To meet the showcase vision of O.C. Tanner, the building was completely renovated and upgraded to honor the original design while creating a modern retail space. The project included restoring the exterior stone cladding on all four sides of the building, a seismic upgrade, and a complete renovation of the historic interior—restoring woodwork, cast iron columns, plaster walls and ceilings, and the steel roof trusses.
