Located across the street from Temple Square, the museum is the flagship facility for displaying art, providing educational exhibits and presentations of historical LDS Church artifacts.
The year-long renovation of the four-level building included nearly a complete reconstruction and reconfiguration of usable space. The new interior includes eight new exhibit areas and a 240-degree surround-screen theater. The museum store was enlarged and updated. Escalators were removed and replaced with a Grand Staircase.
