This 2,500-seat state-of-the-art theatre was Utah Construction & Design’s Outstanding Project of the Year in 2016—and for good reason.
In addition to serving as an economic catalyst for the city and region, the Eccles Theater expands the number of touring Broadway and musical performances and a venue for community art groups. The center includes the performance hall, a 200-seat black box theater, a winter garden lobby, and retail spaces.
Built in conjunction with a 24-story office tower, the design and construction of this world-class theater brought on many complex structural challenges. A three-tier design was utilized to create an intimate experience for patrons. Each tier includes a main balcony, side boxes, and galleries. The slope of each tier and the main front-of-house floor varies based on sight lines, to ensure that all patrons have optimal, uninterrupted views regardless of seat location. Patrons can access seats from the front and rear of each tier, side box, gallery, and the main floor.
