For an organization charged with preserving environmental quality, the Technical Support Center for Utah’s Department of Environmental Quality lives up to its mission.
A mere 700 steps away from DEQ headquarters, this science-oriented structure works to improve air quality beginning with its location. Many DEQ employees need frequent access to both headquarters and the Technical Support Center; the proximity of the two reduces the need for car travel and resulting auto emissions.
To further serve Utah’s environment, the Technical Support Center includes working labs, a specialized filter room, and storage for scientific equipment. Both air-quality and water-quality scientists use the facility for sampling and analysis. The structure is designed with sufficient space to build and repair monitoring stations.
