Reaveley Engineers teamed with MKA Engineers on the design of the City Creek Center. The project consists of retail, office, and residential space over four levels of below-grade parking that spans 20 acres (two city blocks) in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City.
With a particular focus on safety and comfort, the owner required there be no interior walls in the parking garage. The structure is 500-600 feet long in each direction and visually appealing to users. In addition to corrosion modeling and life-cycle costing, Reaveley developed a matrix for methods of dealing with shortening of concrete due to shrinkage and temperature changes.
Reaveley designed and was structural engineer-of-record for street ramps, tunnels, loading areas, and other miscellaneous structures. The experience designing this mixed-use project enhances our expertise in integrating retail/office tower structural systems over below-grade parking structures.
